Andrew & McKenna | D.C. Engagement Session

These are two of my favorite humans on the face of the planet and they helped make one of my dreams come true!!!! :)

I have been wanting to photograph an engagement session in Washington D.C. for ages. Andrew, McKenna, and I had originally planned to do this session back in March during the Cherry Blossom Festival, but I think we all know what went down in March (#COVID). Sooooooo...almost exactly a month before their wedding date, we met at 6 in the morning on the National Mall!!! We had been keeping an eye on the weather because we felt like it was either going to be excessively hot or start raining, but while it was pretty darn hot, it was such a beautiful morning!!!!!

I had been there a couple times before, but the groom-to-be spent many of his formative years growing up in D.C., so it was super fun to have him point out all of the things I would have totally missed during our short time visiting the city.

Fun story also: My car's transmission started going out at about 4 a.m. on my drive up so I had to drive super slow there and back (at least I am pretty sure it is the transmission...who knows). I also got lost once and ended up on the other side of the river. But thank goodness for the cloud cover that morning! It gave us much more flexibility on the start time, phew! ;)

So what seemed like was against all odds, we ended up with some wonderful memories from their time as an engaged couple. I'm sooooo excited for their wedding day!!!!!

Thanks for reading!!!!

With love,

Lauren
